  4. This file is a plain text file briefly describing DeluxeConv 1.0,
  5. such that you can decide if you wish to spend time downloading
  6. the rest of this package for use.

  8. * DeluxeConv is a Macintosh application designed to aid in converting
  9.   StuffIt Classic¬ archives to StuffIt Deluxe¬ format. This can be
  10.   useful to BBS operators, in converting their large collection of
  11.   files that are probably in StuffIt Classic format, to obtain some
  12.   of the benefits of StuffIt Deluxe - notably, a better compression
  13.   ratio, thereby saving valuable disk space.

  15. * This software is copyrighted by the author, and is distributed as
  16.   FreeWare. You are welcome to share and spread unmodified copies of the
  17.   complete DeluxeConv package, as long as no fee is charged for the software,
  18.   other than the normal cost of downloading or disk duplication fees. The
  19.   complete package will consist of this ReadMe file (or release notes),
  20.   documentation, and the DeluxeConv application itself.
  21.   It will normally be distributed as a StuffIt archive.

  23. * This software is dedicated to the memory of Terry Clabaugh, an active
  24.   BBS Sysop who passed away suddenly in August, 1990. It was the wish
  25.   of Terry's family and friends, that donations not be sent to the
  26.   family or to charities, but rather they believed Terry would have
  27.   preferred money to be spent on BBS upkeep.

  38. * Features of DeluxeConv include :

  40.   + It runs on all members of the Macintosh family that have the 128K ROM,
  41.     or better, and a hard disk is recommended. It is compatible with Switcher,
  42.     MultiFinder, AppleShare, RAMDisks etc.

  44.   + It has a simple to use interface, and is efficient in execution.

  76. * For people using Color Finder or SunDesk etc, I have provided for your
  77.   convenience, appropriate color icons ('cicn' and 'icl8'). Use ResEdit or
  78.   other to copy the color icon from the DeluxeConv application to your Color
  79.   Finder or SunDesk Icons file.

  81. * For WWIV Mac BBS Sysops, a modified version of the FixDLoads application
  82.   is available, which will automatically update the BBS data files to
  83.   reflect the correct (hopefully smaller) size of the restuffed archives
  84.   stored on the BBS, for the purposes of giving accurate feedback on the
  85.   estimated time of file transfer.
